Our Story
Kinji started with a simple frustration I kept coming back to: why is it still so hard to answer "what are we eating tonight?"
In real life, kitchens are busy. Ingredients get pushed to the back of the fridge. Pantry items get forgotten. Food goes to waste. And even for people who love food, cooking can start to feel more stressful than meaningful. For me, that never sat right.
Food has always meant more than just eating. It is comfort. It is culture. It is memory. It is the way families care for each other without always needing words. Some of the most important moments in life happen around food — in the meals made after long days, in the dishes passed down without measurements, and in the flavors that quietly remind us where we come from.
That is why I created Kinji.
Kinji begins with the everyday problem first: helping people track what they have, reduce waste, and generate meals from the ingredients already in their kitchen. It is designed to make cooking feel less overwhelming and more intuitive for real households living real lives.
But behind that practical purpose is something deeper. Kinji was born from the belief that the kitchen is still one of the most important spaces in our lives. It is where care lives. Where culture survives. Where memory is made, often in the smallest moments. We may be starting with a smarter pantry and recipe experience, but the heart behind it has always been bigger: to build something that brings people closer to their food, their home, and the meaning behind both.
