Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Kinji— our website, mobile apps, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using Kinji, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are using Kinji on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by law in your country).
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at support@kinji.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information and to keep it up to date.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation while using the Service.
• Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service or its AI features.
• Upload content you do not have rights to, or content that is harmful, abusive, harassing, or obscene.
• Attempt to circumvent security controls, rate limits, or access restrictions.
• Use the Service to build a competing product or service without our prior written consent.
• Transmit malware, spam, or unauthorized automated requests.

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.

Your content

You retain ownership of the content you input into Kinji — pantry items, recipes, photos, meal plans, shopping lists, and notes. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the Service for you. We do not claim ownership of your data, and we do not use your content to train AI models without your explicit consent.

You represent that you have the rights to any content you upload, including any photos of receipts or food items, and that uploading them does not violate the rights of any third party.

AI-generated content — important limitations

Kinji uses AI to generate recipes, suggest ingredients, parse receipts, and assist with meal planning. AI output is provided for convenience and informational purposes only. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your circumstances.

You must apply your own judgement before preparing or consuming any food, particularly if you or anyone in your household has food allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, or medical conditions. Kinji is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. We are not liable for any harm, illness, or loss arising from reliance on AI-generated content.

AI suggestions are generated dynamically and are not reviewed by a human before delivery. We do not guarantee that suggested recipes are allergen-free, nutritionally complete, or appropriate for specific diets (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pregnancy safe). Always verify critical dietary information independently.

Subscriptions and payments

Core features of Kinji are free. If we offer paid plans or premium features, the following applies:

• Pricing, billing cycle, and included features will be clearly disclosed before purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
• You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges and your access continues to the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled in accordance with the applicable app store policy (Apple App Store or Google Play) or, for direct billing, our refund policy stated at time of purchase.
• We may change pricing with at least 30 days notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

Intellectual property

The Kinji name, logo, app design, and underlying technology are our intellectual property. These terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks, trade names, or branding without our prior written consent.

AI-generated recipes and suggestions produced through the Service are not independently protected by copyright (AI output lacks a human author). You are free to use, share, and adapt them. However, any recipe content that we have authored and published in our blog or help center remains our property.

Service changes and availability

We continuously improve Kinji and may add, change, or remove features at any time. We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service. We may suspend access for planned maintenance (with advance notice where possible), unplanned outages, security incidents, or legal reasons.

We will give reasonable notice before discontinuing the Service entirely, and will provide a mechanism to export your data during that notice period.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, pose a risk to other users, or expose us to legal or regulatory liability. Where possible, we will give notice before termination and an opportunity to remedy the issue.

On account deletion or termination, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy (within 30 days for most data; billing records are retained for legal compliance).

Disclaimers

Kinjiis provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kinji and its officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability — in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kinji and its team from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if they qualify.

You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days notice in-app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
